Korea-shaped beef?!

[Korea-shaped beef]

Oh, my goodness! We had a Chinese dinner, but the shape of one piece of meat!

Maybe because we watch too many Korean dramas? or maybe something is going on in Korea which needs our attention? By the way the photo was taken on 4/23/2010 around 7pm...

Let's face the problem

If you have a problem with your brother, let's face it. Don't just pretend as if there's no problem, or don't just use your mighty power to eliminate him while claiming that you are right and he is wrong. Even if you manage to kill him, still problem remains unsolved and someone later has to deal with it. The fact is that the problem exists, which requires your attention and investment. If you don't face it now, you will need to face it later anyway. You cannot ignore the problem. First you need to admit the problem and be honest about it.

And then the problem is the opportunity for something positive to come out, and we all will say, "God works mysteriously!" After all everything will be the expression of God's love. But, it takes our involvement to bring that final outcome.

Character of good kings

There is one character shown through good kings. When something bad happens, or when certain situation comes up, good king would say, "It is my fault. I didn't do enough. That's why these things are happening." Of course, they don't just stop there, but would go on to solve those problems. If we could share such character as our own, then we would be able to make a lot of changes in our daily life.

Tricking, Trapping, Deceiving...

I don't think there is a very, very evil man or woman. Or, I believe that people are good in general. The problem is that more or less people will be somehow tricked, trapped, or deceived by someone or something to think certain way, which would involve them into some conflicting situation. Then sooner or later they would find themselves unable to control the situation by their own will or ability. So, the problem is this part: tricked, trapped, or deceived

But, then, how can we get rid of this problem?

I believe the smart people would find out how to take control over this kind of situation, but the problem is that we are not usually such smart people. This is kinda sad, but we have to start from there. If we are not smart, what can we do?

At least, I need to be able to take care of myself not to be tricked, trapped, or deceived to the best of my ability. Somehow I need to be able to see the reality of this thing which has been trying to trick me, trap me or deceive me....

Paradigm shift needed?

As we are entering into new age, we need to consider changing of our paradigm...

  • if one side is right, the other side is wrong (labeling accompanied to it, similar mentality as witch-hunt) --> no labeling, but to make effort for understanding and reconciling to one another

  • those who are close to the center of the organization is always right --> standard of right and wrong has to belong to one's conscience

  • democratice voting system (majority is always right, minority is wrong) --> "family system" (you can't vote your parent or any family members)

  • priority: political more than truthful --> priority: truthful more than political

  • logic of "power" --> logic of "heart/love"

  • lying works sometimes (lack of genuineness, honesty) --> lying should be strongly discouraged within the culture by emphasizing honesty and genuineness

  • superficial peace more than truth --> truthfulness more than superficial peace

  • well-being of "self" more than God --> put God first more than self

  • blaming than reaching out --> reaching out not blaming

  • "business" paradigm --> "family" paradigm (including forgiveness)

  • hmm...

Thank God for religion -- (8)

If a certain religion is asking people to respect the freedom of faith while it is not respecting the freedom of the expression of its members, what would people think about such a religion?
Our word and deed has to match, or people will call us hypocrite.

You don't need to worry too much about what people think and talk about you. However, being a hypocrite is not really recommended. At least, we need to learn from our history and try not to make the same mistakes which religions have committed in the name of God.

What is filial piety?

Korean drama shows different kinds of filial piety. It's something to think about:

1. A person gives up himself including his own life to accomplish what his parents are determined to accomplish.
2. A person obeys what his parents say even though it's not reasonable, believing that he is practicing "absolute obedience."
3. A person tries to make his siblings follow his own agenda by using the authority of what his parents might have said in a different context.

Thank God for someone not doing things as I expect!

If you ask someone to do something, and if he/she does not do it as you expect, what would you do?
First ask yourself a question, "Did I do myself what I asked him/her to do?"
If your answer is "no" for any reason, then what you can do is that first you do exactly what you asked him/her to do. Then, see what you will be learning in this process.
There will be a lot of reasons why you do not do it, but don't be fooled by them. The simple principle is you do things before expecting someone to do that.
Then you will experience the way how God educates you. Even by making he/she not doing things as you expected, He is trying to teach you more important principle which you should learn. So, in a sense, God is even sacrificing his/her growth in order to make you grow. He loves you at least that much.

I understand it is pretty much subjective, but I believe it is a necessary process to take. Of course it is up to me to choose to take that process or not...

Thank God for somebody's problem!

I have to remind myself again and again that if somebody who is related to me has some problem (according to my viewpoint) and it seems very difficult for that person to get rid of the problem, or, change himself/herself, then, it is definitely a message from God to me.

"My son, I want to tell you that you have that problem, which I want you to realize and overcome it."

Then, if I realize it and somehow overcome it, then what I did would create some kind of indirect support for that person to overcome that problem. And when this whole thing is finished, we all would end up overcoming our problems with some unique personal experience of God's involvement in our lives.

Of course, if I don't choose this way, and choose the way to blame that person or at least get disappointed about that person without catching the message for me, that's another choice of life, too. But I wouldn't lose the precious chance in my limited period of life on earth. And if I was, after all, the main character of the drama with my best audience--God, then it would be better to choose this way, I believe.

Thank God for $1 Million Dollars!!!!

Yes, once a year, this day is coming around--not the day of the lottery announcement, but the first day of the forth month..... :-) :-) :-) :-)
